Weather Situation

A slow moving high near New Zealand will maintain a firm ridge over southern Queensland coast during the forecast period. A monsoon trough extends from tropical cyclone Lam to a tropical low in the Coral Sea that is expected to move towards the Capricornia or Wide Bay coast on Friday. A trough extending to the south of the low will approach the southern Queensland coast during Thursday and Friday. Forecasts are highly dependent on the development and movement of the low in the Coral Sea.

Winds :  Southeasterly 20 to 25 knots

Seas : 1.5 to 2.5 metres.

Swell : Easterly 1.5 to 2.5 metres.

Weather : Cloudy. 80% chance of showers.

Caution : Large and powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

Large powerful surf conditions across the coast this morning. The swell is at 6ft+ and is set to increase throughout the day. Onshore winds from the SE at 20-25 knots have made the open beaches unrideable with all roads leading to Noosa on the inside points. The tide is incoming with high at 7.35 am and low at 2 pm. The patrolled beaches of Mooloolaba Spit and Noosa will be open, however , swim with caution. The water temp at 25c. Enjoy your day in the waves . Ýo
