Weather Situation

A weakening high pressure over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east coast of Queensland. A trough is expected to move northwards through far southern waters late Tuesday and continue northwards throughout Wednesday, with strong southerly winds behind the trough. A new high in the Great Australian Bight will extend a firm ridge through southern waters on Wednesday and Thursday in the wake of the trough.

Sunshine Coast Waters Forecast: Double Island Point to Cape Moreton

Winds : Variable about 10 knots becoming north to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the morning. Winds shifting southeast to southwesterly 20 to 25 knots in the far south in the late evening.

Seas : Below 0.5 metres, increasing to around 1 metre during the morning.

1st Swell :  Southeasterly around 1 metre.

2nd Swell : Easterly around 1 metre.

Weather : Mostly sunny. 30% chance of a shower offshore later tonight. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere. The chance of a thunderstorm south of Maroochydore later tonight.
