An entrepreneur has developed a prototype of a surf pool that only uses human muscles to pump waves. “Fred’s Wave” is a one-man show. The dream of building an inexpensive, eco-friendly artificial wave has been growing somewhere in Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia.
The idea started with a very small-scaled model and later evolved into a small wave pool for beginners. The man behind this unusual artificial wave has been uploading videos of his technology since 2008.
In 2012, “Fred’s Wave” managed to build an half-size prototype with $85,000. The 20-meter wave pool produced a two-footer that could be ridden for 10 seconds.
With a few tweaks, “Fred’s Wave” got better. Now, inventor/entrepreneur wants to attract Indonesian investors for its completion. The low-energy wave pool will also add sand bags to improve the quality of the ride.
